Rock Report

Each student has been assigned one of the 13 rocks that Utah 4th graders need to know.  We had some computer time on Friday to research each rock.

Each student was given a section of clay.  He/she is to turn this piece of clay into his/her assigned rock.

The report is due next Friday, April 20th.

Here are some examples from last year:

Reference Book Entry
You are going to write your own reference book entry for your rock.

Top Box:  Print the rock’s name, dividing between syllables.

Box 2: Write the word to show its pronunciation.  Include pronunciation symbols.

Definition: Write a clear, concise definition in your own words.  State the type of rock that it is. (Example, igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic)

Characteristics – List information about this rock; distinguishing features, etc.

Uses: List its various uses in the everyday world.
Include small illustrations if space permits.
