Chocolate chip cookies are made up of sugar, salt, flour and chocolate chips, but no two cookies have the same number of chocolate chips, sugar granules, etc. This is like the minerals in rocks. Rocks that are the same type have the same minerals in them but NOT the same quantities.
For example, all granite has varying amounts of quartz and feldspar, but the amount varies by the piece of granite. Some granite will have other types of minerals as well.
